Individual Psychotherapy
I have worked successfully with clients on a range of concerns including relationship issues, trauma, career concerns, adjustment problems, mood/anxiety disorders, and other matters. My approach is client-centered: I will work individually with you to determine what your goals are and how we can work collaboratively toward them. I have undergone specialized training in Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT), multicultural counseling, and Coherence Therapy, and I utilize a variety of approaches to tailor treatment to suit your unique needs.
I also specialize in helping parents juggle the stressful demands of parenthood. Many women, in particular, find it difficult to adjust personally and professionally to their new identity and struggle to find a work-life balance that fits them and their relationships. I work with clients to set goals that are consistent with their values while promoting parent and child well-being. I completed my post-doctoral training in perinatal mental health at the Postpartum Stress Center in Philadelphia, the premier professional training center for prenatal and postpartum depression in the country, and was selected to serve as a "Perinatal Mental Health Champion" in Washington, DC.
Couples Counseling
Couples counseling is appropriate for any serious relationship – whether the couple is married, partnered, gay, or straight. We will discuss any issues that are affecting your relationship. Common concerns include intimacy, communication, work-life balance, finances, and infidelity. We will examine your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how they impact your relationship, and will work toward more effective ways of relating and responding to one another. In couples therapy, partners attend 50 minute sessions together. Sessions are usually once a week, although the frequency and the length of the sessions may be adjusted to accommodate your needs.
I am available to work with you on a short- or long-term basis, depending on your needs.
